Garden Room Cladding

Case Study Description

This customer came to us with ideas for a garden room project and sent us a rough pencil sketch of what they had in mind.

Customer Sketch

We always try to advise opting for a footprint size that is compatible with the SIP panels, as this helps to reduce cuts and wastage, the nearest compatible size to their sketch being 7.93m x 4.88m.

Once confirmed they were happy with the recommended footprint size, we used SketchUp to create them a bespoke 3D design, to take a look over and visulise their future garden room.

SimplySIPs Example 3D Design

Due to the size of this studio, we automatically upgraded the walls and roof to the thicker 122mm panels, as this allows for thicker timbers, therefore more structural support.

This customer also chose to incorporate a 300mm front overhang on their design.

This studio did require planning permission from the local authority, so once the customer recieved consent, they made a few more amendments to their 3D design and then they were ready to place their order with us, SimplySIPs.

What was included in this SIPs Kit?

For reference, this SIPs kit included the following:

Garden Gym Final Design

As this studio was going to be used as a gym with heavy equipment, it was recommended not to use SIP panels for the floor, to avoid the risk of any movement or flexing. This meant we supplied a walls and roof only (no floor) SIPs kit, and the customer constructed their own insulated timber subframe, which sat on concrete plinths.

Once the SIPs kit had been confirmed, engineered, manufactured and delivered, the customer was able to begin their build!
