Why Use Compatible Footprint Sizes

Why Use Compatible Footprint Sizes

There are many benefits of using SIP Panels to construct your garden room; including that SIP Panels are most commonly known for their ease of construction and eco-friendliness. This is mainly due to the fact that they produce very little waste during the production and manufacturing process.

Eco-Friendly

Here at SimplySIPs, although we can produce fully bespoke SIP Kits with a variety of different footprint sizes, we will always try to steer you towards using a footprint size that is compatible with the SIP panels.

In turn, not only does this reduce the number of cuts for our guys in the workshop producing the kits, but it also means we produce a lot less waste in our factories, helping to save the cost for both you as an individual, and us as a business.

Using a compatible footprint size will not only benefit our SIPs kits, but if you are looking to order our straight uncut SIP panels and jointing splines to create a garden room yourself, this will save you a lot of time cutting and rebating SIPs panels, as well as creating unnecessary waste on site.

A lot of the time it is a misconception that the compatible footprint sizes are determined by the layout of the wall panels, but in fact it is the floor and roof panels that dictate the size. As long as you can provide us with approximate dimensions, we will happily advise on the nearest compatible footprint size for your studio.

When considering the size of your garden room, it is important to bear in mind that you must allow a minimum of 500mm around the footprint (bottom and top of your studio) to construct, as well as fit the external wrap, battens and cladding.

Our Compatible Footprint Sizes Explained

For a studio depth of 2.44m, our standard 2.44m x 1.22m SIPs Panels can be used for the roof and floor, with a jointing spline between each join.

Example 4.88m x 2.44m Roof and Floor Layout

The compatible dimension on the length would then increase in increments of 610mm (half a panel width), for example:

2.44m x 2.44m

3.66m x 2.44m

4.27m x 2.44m

4.88m x 2.44m

5.49m x 2.44m

For a studio depth of 3m, our standard 3m x 1.2m SIPs Panels can be used for the roof and floor, with a jointing spline between each join.

Example 4.8m x 3m Roof and Floor Layout

The compatible dimension on the length would then increase in increments of 600mm (half a panel width), for example:

2.4m x 3m

3m x 3m

3.6m x 3m

4.2m x 3m

4.8m x 3m

For a studio depth of 3.66m, our Roof and Floor 2.44m x 610mm SIPs Panels can be used with a jointing spline and 2x timbers between each join.

Example 4.88m x 3.66m Roof and Floor Layout

The compatible dimension on the length would then increase in increments of 610mm (the width of 1 panel), for example:

3.66m x 3.66m

4.27m x 3.66m

4.88m x 3.66m

5.49m x 3.66m

6.1m x 3.66m

For a studio depth of 4.27m, our Roof and Floor 2.44m x 610mm SIPs Panels can be used with a jointing spline and 2x timbers between each join.

Example 4.88m x 4.27m Roof and Floor Layout

The compatible dimension on the length would then increase in increments of 610mm (the width of 1 panel), for example:

4.27m x 4.27m

4.88m x 4.27m

5.49m x 4.27m

6.1m x 4.27m

6.71m x 4.27m

For a studio depth of 4.88m, our Roof and Floor 2.44m x 610mm SIPs Panels can be joined end-on-end with a jointing spline and 2x timbers between each join. This is the maximum our SIP panels can span to.

Example 4.88m x 4.88m Roof and Floor Layout

The compatible dimension on the length would then increase in increments of 610mm (the width of 1 panel), for example:

4.88m x 4.88m

5.49m x 4.88m

6.1m x 4.88m

6.71m x 4.88m

7.32m x 4.88m
